Landscaping & Hardscaping: Lower Cape Cod
We completed the landscape at this Cape Cod home late in 2015. It’s located on a on a quiet dead-end street in the Lower Cape area. Because the homeowner wanted something very low maintenance, we kept the plantings fairly minimal using only perennials which will thrive in our climate. Over time, the carpet juniper bushes in the front beds will spread over the hillside. The dwarf boxwood shrubs along the foundation of the home will require little to no pruning. Bulbs were planted to add color in the spring and hydrangea bushes in the summer. The large driveway, which has two entrances, was topped with loose stone for a soft, natural look. We installed a Y-shaped front walkway made with pavers, cutting them to create gentle curves. To the right of the home we added a wide walkway leading to a secondary door and deck. To the left wide paver stairs fronted with granite wind down to a two-tiered patio which can also be accessed from a side door and the back deck. One tier is used as a dining area and one as a sitting area. The raised beds are filled additional flowering bulbs.
